As we come into the Easter season, I am
reminded from the scriptures about a certain “Doubting Thomas,” who
said, “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put
my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his
side, I will not believe (John 20:25).”He heard that Jesus was alive, but he wouldn’t believe. There were others that didn’t believe, the scriptures said.He kept showing up to say, “here I Am!”In my mind’s eye, I picture it like, Ta-da!Here I Am.I kept My promise.“I am the resurrection and the life.”Yoo-hoo!I’m here! The Bible states that while many did not believe He arose. Those that had Him crucified did. They even remembered what He had said about arising from the grave, and sealed the tomb with a heavy stone and stationed guards.

As we come into the Easter season, I am reminded from the scriptures about a certain “Doubting Thomas,” who said, “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe (John 20:25).”He heard that Jesus was alive, but he wouldn’t believe.
Jesus knew, however, that there’d be those who’d struggle with belief, and in another great moment of compassion, Jesus showed up and let Thomas touch the nails in His hands.John 20:26-27 states “Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.”To which Thomas replied, “My LORD and my God.” Jesus goes on to say, “Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
Still today, in 2009, Jesus is still showing up. Ta-da!I’m here!Believe in me.And in more moments of compassion, He’s reaching out to you and to me, saying I’m the resurrection and the life.Identify with me in the resurrection by receiving the Holy Ghost.Rise to newness of life.Let me show up in your life.Let me change your life.Just believe.
