What is a Holy Ghost Crusade?

A Holy Ghost Crusade is a special time where we focus on helping believers receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost speaking with tongues.  In this atmosphere of faith, worship and instruction, many will find it very easy to receive this promise from God.

What is this promise?

Early in Old Testament history, God began showing His plan to fill mankind with His Spirit.  From the cloud at Mt. Sinai, to the Ark of the Covenants behind the veil, God showed His desire to be with His people and reveal Himself to them.

When the scriptures get to Joel 2, God promises, “...I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh….”  In the book of Jeremiah, God said it this way, “I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

Jesus echoed this promise many times saying that after He returned to heaven, He would send the “promise from the Father.”  He wanted us to know the availability of the promise and that God wants to bless His people with it.  Jesus said, “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”  Jesus instructs us that to receive this promise, we must simply ask.

Just prior to His return to heaven Jesus gave His disciples this command, “I send the promise of my Father upon you: but wait in the city of Jerusalem, until your clothed with power from on high.”

When the Jewish holiday Pentecost came, the disciples were gathered at Jerusalem waiting for this promise.  Acts 2 tells us that a rushing, mighty wind came through and ‘cloven’ tongues of fire set upon each person.  Each person was filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in a language they did not know.

This was a strange event that day in Jerusalem and people gathered to see what was going on.  Jesus’ disciple, Peter preached to them, explaining that what they were experiencing was this promise from the Father.

At the close of his message, they asked him, “What must we do to be saved?”  Peter responded with three things, “Repent and be baptized in Jesus Name, and you shall receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost.”

Peter then in the next verse extended the promise not just to his audience that day, but to us when he said, “For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”

If you have not yet done so, I encourage you to come to the crusade and receive your promised Gift from the Father!
